_Change your air filter every month or other month as you canafford it: your housing air flow will be fresher and cleaner.

_During the changing seasons, it is always good to clean the outer drains, downspouts and gutters so that leaves do not get them clogged up.  If these outside items are clogged up with leaves and debris, water could get into your roof sheetings and basement, or stay around your foundation. In the long run this can result in catastrophic water damage in the house.

_Routinely check your smoke detectors every time you get a chance.

_Do not let rice along with grease go down into the kitchen sink drainage line.  Rice and grease can get your pipes clogged up easily because they can pass through the corner opening of the garbage disposal into the pipes.  Anyway, a garbage disposal is an emergency device, not a place to throw every type of garbage into.  Time to time run the hot water for 30 seconds or so to dissolve grease going down into the drain line.

_It is always advisable to have the ducts cleaned before moving into a new house.  Even though the house looks free of dust from the surface,  inside the attic, crawl spaces and duct lines can be dirty from building the house.
